Huh? Understanding Natal Pentagrams

Hi!

I’ve always kind of ignored the big glaring pentagram in my chart, but recently I started trying to understand it. I can’t find much about pentagram configurations, and most of what I have found came from forums like this. I’m hoping that somebody here can help me, and by extension help other confused people scouring the web for info about this pattern. Thanks in advance!

I have heard other people refer to this 5-sided aspect pattern as a “lantern” or “stretched pentagram”, but I can’t find anything about either of those terms. Please, if you know anything about them or whether or not it’s even an accurate description of my chart, I’d be very curious. Most of what I have to go off of regarding the significance of this configuration only talks about the Grand Quintile, and most of that is about Hitler, with whom I have little else in common. This lack of info is unfortunate.

The points of the star in my chart are arranged as follows:

Gemini 13’56" (Mars Rx) — Leo 12′ 04" (Jupiter) — Scorpio 11’24" (Mercury combust) — Capricorn 12’09" (Neptune) — Pisces 14’33" (Moon)

The first thing that jumps out to me is that my 3 most dominant signs are involved (Scorp/Leo/Cap), as well as my 2nd most dominant planet (Mercury). Also, Saturn is in aspect to two of the points of the star, and while Saturn was in my sign of Scorpio from 2012 to 2015, my creative energies were severely disrupted after a youth dedicated to the arts (music/visual/written). When I started being creatively productive again, my talent was focused in new areas where I’ve found more success than ever, though I have mostly abandoned the art forms I practiced when I was younger. Saturn forced me to grow in many ways during that period, but only upon examining the pentagram here did I understand how it influenced my creative energies as well.

The next thing I realize is that 4 out of 5 of these points on the star line up fairly well with the Venus Pentagram’s lobes from the 1980s to now — except my Moon is off. To properly line up with Venus, my moon would need to be placed in Aries, whereas in my chart it is shifted over just a smidge into Pisces.

So it’s not a Grand Quintile, as I only have 3 yods and none of them are Golden Yods. They are all basic Yods with a sextile connecting the base. There’s no fluff in the configuration (no asteroids, fixed points, ASC/DSC, etc.) If I were to include stuff like that, all of my quincunxes are shadowed by nearly parallel biquintiles and/or more quincunxes. Also, my Part of Fortune makes one of the yods into a boomerang (Jupiter apex). Though I can’t imagine these tangential connections are generally important, transits touching these other points might activate the pentagram, if only slightly. I’m not sure.

My pentagram is based off of the quincunx + trine aspects rather than the quintile alone. Both quintile & quincunx are related to creativity and the math of 5, but I don’t understand the difference in how they are expressed. I do also have some biquintiles and a quintile in the chart, tho. The apex of two of my yods (Jupiter and Mars) are each biquintile to planets near the apex of the third yod at Neptune (but just out of orb for conjunction). Not sure if that has significance or not.

This leaves me with a few questions. I’ll take any insight people have.

1. How different is the stretched pentagram from the grand quintile, in terms of nature, effect, expression, and power?
2. Is it just me or is that a lot of Yods? Should I be worried–and how do I make the most of them?
3. What is that trine doing there?
4. Is my Jupiter helped or hindered by this configuration? I can’t tell, but I definitely feel the impact of the hard aspects between Jupiter and inner planets.

Love Horoscope for the Week of September 5

There are a couple of interesting and useful developments in this week’s forecast, but overall the week will be much better suited to doing maintenance work on your love life (and on yourself) rather than making any bold romantic leaps into new territory.

The week begins with Labor Day, which is a holiday for most people in the United States. That’s probably a good thing, because on Monday the Moon is in Scorpio and makes no exact aspects to any other planet, so nothing much was probably going to get done at work anyway.

On Wednesday (but in effect throughout the week) Venus sextile Saturn could do wonders when it comes to repairing or maintaining your personal bonds or working on yourself in general. Yes I know: sextiles aren’t a very flashy aspect, and anything involving Saturn isn’t likely to be much fun. But as you may have figured out by this point in your life, relationships can be a lot of work. At least with Venus sextile Saturn that work will come a little more easily and will result in a little more lasting benefit.

Another reason you might want to focus on maintenance and repair work with yourself and your love life this week? The weekend is not terribly promising for romance. Normally I’d be getting excited over Moon in Sagittarius on Friday making a conjunction to Mars and a trine to Uranus… except that in this case the Moon goes Void of Course too early in the day to make for a decent date night. On Saturday and Sunday, the Moon in Capricorn makes some mostly difficult aspects, including a square to Venus, which is rarely a good time to fire up a new relationship.

Although this is a weekly forecast — your guide to the trees rather than the forest, if you will — there are two major astrological events this week that I should note.

On Friday, Jupiter begins its year-long trip through Libra. Jupiter is the planet most naturally associated with having a good time and committed relationships. How this relates to you and your situation is dependent on the individual factors in your birth chart, but if there’s one thing that pretty much all astrologers agree on, it’s that Libra is a much better place for Jupiter to be in then Virgo was. So if the last year in your love life wasn’t all that great, do what Jupiter does best: remain optimistic.

Finally: has there been a department of your life this year that has had a very hard time getting focused, staying focused, or making any real significant progress? Odds are good that you can blame that on Saturn square Neptune — and that aspect hits the exact degree on Saturday. It will be in play until nearly the end of the year, but at least this Saturday is that last time the aspect is exact. Whew.

Is astrology sexist? LGBT?

Thread title.

Is Venus and Mars as male/female archetypes outdated? We live in a time of gender equality and where we are not bound by archaic gender roles, so why isnt astrology reflecting that?
And why can’t we determine homosexual relationships? And why do gay people have “damaged” aspects in their chart to indicate their sexuality? Is the implication harmful?

Mars in Scorpio, Moon in Gemini Compatibility

Mars in Scorpio is energized by fearless emotional and sexual exchanges, while Moon in Gemini needs intellectual distance. This is a difficult match, due to the basic disconnect in how these two approach intimacy. If they want to make it work, each will have to accept that what they offer will not quite work.

Mars in Scorpio pushes things to the limit. Each of his determined actions are designed to trigger extreme reactions in his partner. Whether he’s pushing sexual boundaries or ferreting out his lover’s secrets, his primary goal is to create a bond that’s based on merging. Mars in Scorpio’s loyalty comes from the fact that he initiates all-or-nothing relationship situations — once he’s started something, there’s no turning back.

Moon in Gemini needs to leave her options open. At times, it may seem to her partner as if she can’t settle on one feeling, or commit to anything. This is due to her ability to feel both sides of a situation. Moon in Gemini is always open to alternatives, because she thinks her way through her feelings. This also means that she’s not comfortable with intense emotional exchanges. When things get heavy, she reacts with nervous chatter and anxiety. She can feel, of course, but she equates intensity with restriction.

Mars in Scorpio’s instinctive reactions will feel odd and a bit threatening to Moon in Gemini. She’ll feel that this guy is way too intense for her, and Scorpio may decide that she lacks any depth or commitment. The more insistent Scorpio is, the more evasive Gemini will become. However, if other aspects in their charts pull them together, these two will have to deal with their very different energies. Mars in Scorpio can moderate his actions and insistence, while Gemini can make an effort to stay present when things get intense. If Scorpio accepts that he may never be able to pin Gemini down, and Moon in Gemini accepts his concentrated energy, they might make it work.

Read my mother's chart please :)

let me tell you a little about her life circumstances. She was born to a single mother, a 38 year old Leo (same age my mother had my sister, also a Leo) who in 1959 fled Europe looking for shelter from her husband while pregnant. To this day my mom has no clue as to what happened there. Her mother was a very brave woman. Also very strict. A nurse. My mom was a very hyper- active child, and according to her a very very happy child.
Then when she was 16 her mom died abruptly out of the blue and she was left alone. She was then in foster care where she was also very happy. She’s in touch with her foster family to this day.
It was when she got married to a psychopath due to an unexpected pregnancy when things started going really bad for her. She lost all of her confidence and her friends and became an impotant person who has no abilty to effect their own lives. My dad got cancer and she got pregnant and shortly after my sister was born they finally got divorced. Things still werent good cause my father did leave but his debts didnt go anywhere. Shes been paying for years now and has only one and a half year left now. In the last couple of years she’s become a lot more socialy active. She has a lot of friends, she always studies something, she has even erranged a successful spiritual awareness event from scratch on her own not long ago and she’s so happy about it. And she actually made some money. Not a lot but just enough to cover the cost, which is in itself amazing for someone who has never initiated anything on their own before. (She actually wants me to get involved cause I tend to think BIG but I don’t think i’m ready. )

BUT my father did leave her scarred and she still can’t talk back to people. She doesnt ever voice her true opinion to anyone and i’m so tragically sad for her.
Anyway, she’s now planning another event- a lecture, which i’m sure will go great cause talking is really what she’s best at.

So what do you guys think based on her chart and what I just said?

The Four Signs Most Resistant to Marriage

Marriage is not exclusive to a few signs. All signs have the potential to make a traditional commitment, but some are less inclined than others. For a few signs, the idea of promising themselves to one person for the rest of their lives is not appealing. In general, they shrink from the perfect storm of tradition, fidelity, limits and compromise. Of course, the rest of the natal chart always tells the full story. A person with their Sun in one the signs below may have a packed 7th House with Saturn aspects all over the place, encouraging them to settle down.

Aries

When a relationship becomes routine, Aries gets bored. When he gets bored, he’ll shake things up. Courage comes naturally to Aries, and it’s essential for him to have an ongoing challenge. But this brave sign has one major fear, and that’s predictability. He’s great at initiating, but after awhile, he looks around for something new to start. With the right partner, Aries can have a vibrant, passionate union that challenges him, but the idea of “settling down” is not natural to him. Even the phrase sounds completely opposite from what he stands for. Also, as the first sign of the zodiac, Aries is instinctively focused on self. Balancing his needs with a partner does not come easily.

Worst-Case Marriage Fear: yawn-inducing routines and comfort

Taurus

You might think this sign is all about tying the knot. She does love her predictable routines, but she is massively stubborn and selective. She’s not resistant to the rules of marriage as much as the concept of sharing with another person. She doesn’t hook up with just anyone, and if she does select a partner, she’ll be very cautious about allowing them into her personal space. The things she surrounds herself with are sacred. Plus, she’s self-sufficient. She loves to love, but the idea of disrupting her habits by living with another person is foreign. Similar to Aries, she is self-focused, but her focus is on continuing what’s always worked for her. Marriage involves change. It’s easy for her to become the eternal bachelorette who preserves her way of life.

Worst-Case Marriage Fear: a partner who shakes up her routine and moves her stuff around

Sagittarius

Marriage may not be totally out of the question, but it’s probably not on his top five. He wants to keep exploring and expanding; there are always new experiences to check out. After a while, marriage is no longer a new experience. In fact, the whole tradition thing is unappealing. He can be as faithful as the next sign, but an institution with rules about how to love rubs him the wrong way. And, for all his optimism and good humor, Sag can be insensitive. With his eyes focused on the bigger issue, he overlooks the fine points of what might offend his partner. He dreads being stuck in a situation where he doesn’t have the freedom to do and say what he wants. Mind you, if he meets an open-minded partner who wants to be his travelling companion, marriage might work.

Worst-Case Marriage Fear: no room to move and endless chastisement from an easily-offended partner

Aquarius

The traditional aspect of marriage is probably not as big of a turnoff as you think. Most Aquarians are not out-and-out rebels, and have no problems functioning within society’s rules. But her mix of independence, introversion and stubbornness makes marriage a difficult prospect. She needs major amounts of alone time and she has her own very set way of doing things. Plus, at her core, she simply doesn’t need a partner. She may fall in love, but she’d be perfectly to happy to have a long-term relationship that consisted of each person living in their own home. And, she sees no need for a legal document that makes it official. What does that piece of paper mean, anyway? As far as Aquarius is concerned, if she loves someone, she loves them. She’ll be faithful, and that should be enough.

Worst-Case Marriage Fear: dealing with a needy partner who gets upset when affection is not traditionally expressed. And, always having someone right there.

When can I start my next film?

I’ve made one short film which received a good response. I’m now planning a second film. My main career needs time. So the start of my second short film has gotten delayed a bit. Can you tell me when I will be able to start it?

As I see it, the first lord Venus is in 5th house, which is the house of creative projects. So, this chart reflects the question, especially since Venus also rules films. The Moon is angular but close to the Sun, decreasing in light. This doesn’t seem positive. If I consider the semi-sextile aspect, Moon is SS Venus. I would only do this because Venus is so strong in Libra and dignified in 5th. Would you consider this? What would it mean?

Neptune is very close to the 11th cusp. Neptune shows a fertile imagination. So maybe this is positive. The fifth lord is Mercury in 5th house and retrograde. I would have seen this as negative but for the fact that Venus is in 5th in its own sign. Mercury is also 2nd lord and is in its own sign but in the last degrees and retrograde. So, a mixed bag. Venus, the lord of 5th is separating from both Mercury and Jupiter.
