Mystery Illness? and Chest/Lung pain?

I’ve had a mystery illness since I was 16 years old. The fatigue, joint pain and other symptoms have been so severe in the past (and recently) that there has been disruptions in my education, college and work. I’m exhausted, in pain (in spite of the medications) and quite frankly scared of the new symptoms that have been popping up. I’ve never been hospitalized before and I’m concerned that with the way things are going, it’s inevitable.

Symptoms I have been experiencing – joint pain, muscle pain, rib/lung pain, fatigue, GI issues (constipation & diarrhea sometimes so severe that it is accompanied by blood), extreme fatigue (requiring several naps a day), sudden unexplained fevers and rashes, photosensitivity.

I’ve seen several doctors about it, who can’t seem to find a diagnosis that fits my symptoms. As it currently stands, I’m being followed by 2 specialists. I have already been diagnosed with one autoimmune condition (thyroiditis) although it is unrelated to my current symptoms. There is a strong history of autoimmune conditions of all types in my family.

What is my mystery illness? Any tips/clues about the direction I should be going in would be greatly appreciated.

Also, yesterday I experienced a pretty severe bout of chest pain – it worsened when I breathed in deeply or moved. The most comfortable position was for my shoulders to stay hunched over. If I tried to straighten up, lean forward, cough, sneeze, hiccup etc. it was painful. I am used to short periods of this type of pain lasting 5 minutes at the most. This episode lasted 30-45 minutes. I took my prescribed anti-inflammatory medication and eventually it did go away. Until then, I just had to take shallow breaths and stay hunched over. After I woke up from a nap, my chest was still sore.

Any clues as to what is causing the chest/lung pain?
