Love Horoscope for the Week of February 9

weeklylove Astrologically speaking, this week has a sort of “middle chapter” feeling to it. There are no major cosmic dramas playing out, but lots of little character points are being made. Ever notice how in a well-written screenplay, it’s those little character moments that turn into something bigger later? That’s what this week holds for us. Pay attention to the little promises and nuisances that happen, because they are building up to something in the next couple of weeks. With Venus and Mars in Pisces this week, you could do worse than listen to your intuition.

The biggest news this week continues to be the Big Players: Saturn square Neptune and Uranus square Pluto. Saturn square Neptune is quite possibly the weirdest single aspect that can happen. With luck, you’ll find that a lot of the obstacles in your life are being dissolved. Quite often though, you will find that there are strange new pressures falling into your life to make you get rid of something or restructure something. Pay attention to those signals!

Mercury turns direct on Wednesday. The conventional wisdom is that, although Mercury retrograde is over, it will remain in the “shadow period” for about another three weeks. Frankly, this is something I don’t like to think about and neither should you. Just keep proofreading and thinking about where you’re sending that email before you send it, and everything ought to be fine.

As far as both romance and social relations in general go, overall the week might not be too bad. Venus and Mars are both in Pisces, which is a pretty sensitive place for those two planets. Try not to make too many demands of others and try to develop your own natural empathy, and this could actually be a pretty constructive week for your human relations.

Oh, and then comes Valentine’s Day.

The weekend dating scene is dominated by Valentine’s Day on Saturday. Here’s the thing about that: Romance is all fine and dandy, but making a relationship actually work requires rolling up your sleeves and getting your hands dirty. On Saturday evening, the Moon is in Capricorn, so on top of the cultural demands for heart-shaped boxes of candy, there is also a need for security and certainty. Play into that with your treatment of the one you love and this Valentine’s Day should turn out relatively okay. Frankly, though? If you’re in a bad relationship or not in a relationship at all, Moon in Capricorn isn’t going to help the traditional Valentine’s Day disappointment at all. That Moon squares Uranus and makes a conjunction to Pluto on Sunday, so an unsuccessful Valentine’s Day might result in an even worse hangover the next day. In both Love and Other Disasters, preparation can make the difference between life and death.

Having said all that: at heart I am an optimist. Valentine’s Day is often a disappointment, but both in calendar terms and astrologically, next week should be better. Let’s all look forward to that, shall we?
