Most of the time, I’m generally known as an astrologer. This week, though? I want you to think of me as your Cosmic Defense Attorney. Why? Because this week, Mercury — the planet that rules thought and communication — is taking a real beating… and anything you say can and will be used against you in the Court of the Universe.
“But wait!” I hear you saying. “I’m an Enlightened New Age Old Soul Ascended Master So and So, and I’m going to visualize and do affirmations until everything is awesome!” To which I can only respond: that’s nice. Now sit down and listen, because your words could be your own worst enemy this week.
The week starts with Sun conjunct Mercury in Pisces. This is not usually considered to be a very helpful aspect (the Sun tends to drown out Mercury when that happens), but it’s the second-best aspect Mercury gets this week. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Late Tuesday/early Wednesday brings Mercury sextile Pluto. Sure, that’s a great aspect for finding a firm but reasonable way to get your point across, or to make your communications a little more effective. But what are you communicating? Whatever it is you’re trying to get across might sound reasonable to you but could come across as a slap in the face to the intended recipient. Be careful with what you’re trying to convey and how you say it.
On Thursday, Mercury is quincunx Jupiter, closely followed by Mercury conjunct Chiron on Friday. I don’t often talk about either quincunxes or Chiron a lot here, but they are not to be ignored, especially at a time like this. Whatever it is you’re trying to say to someone this week may well be tinged with a lot of psychological drama that you may not even be aware of, or you may be looking to the wrong person to solve your issues. And that quincunx to Jupiter? That just increases the odds that your own deep issues will come out (or you’ll accidentally trip over someone else’s psychological issues).
Just as Mercury isn’t normally the big culprit when your life malfunctions, you can expect Mars entering Taurus on Thursday to be a blessing in disguise. Normally Mars in Taurus is considered to be a pretty problematic placement: like a confused bull, it doesn’t necessarily know who to charge at or when to stop. But having an outlet for all the confused drives like we have going on this week can be a good thing. Say what you will about Mars in Taurus, but it’s good for sex. Lots of funky, snorting sex. If you have someone to help you with this? Great. If not? Choose wisely.
Thankfully, that’s it for the week and if you’ve followed my directions to the letter, everything ought to be just fine and — Oh. Wait. There’s a Full Moon in Virgo early Sunday that will make the urge to interact… and thus risk saying the wrong thing… pretty much overwhelming on date night Saturday.
