Love Horoscope for the Week of April 13

The biggest astrological news this week is Mercury entering Taurus. Mercury is the planet most closely associated with thought, speech, and eloquence. Aries likes to get everything done ASAP, but Taurus tends to take its time doing things. This doesn’t necessarily mean everyone’s going to get slower and dumber, but some of you may have to learn how to work with the more steady intellectual pace that comes with this position. Moses himself said, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue,” and yet he grew up to be Charlton Heston!

(I admit it: it’s been a while since I’ve read the Bible and that may not be exactly how things went. My point here is that your intellectual environment could be very profitable for you in the next few weeks if you’re patient with yourself and others, backed up by the occasional threat of raining frogs and water turning to blood and such — as required.)

Pluto slows down and goes retrograde this week, and stays that way until September. Personally, I don’t worry too much about outer planets retrogrades, but if you have any major placements in your birth chart between 12 and 15° of the Cardinal Signs, you can expect a return visit from some of the difficulties you may have faced in the last year or so, leading to a conclusion later in the year. For many, this will be the “clean-up phase” of that whole Uranus-Pluto Square mess we’ve dealt with the last couple of years.

There is good news for those of you who like to have a little excitement on the weekend: Mars square Jupiter is exact on Friday but lasts throughout the weekend, and there is a New Moon in Aries on Saturday. Mars in Taurus may generally be slow to react to things, but once it does it really takes off. The square aspect provides plenty of stimulation if you’re an optimist, or aggravation if you’re more of a realist. Although there may be more than the usual amount of moodiness and agitation over the weekend, that kind of dissatisfaction can often be leveraged to make positive change in one’s love life. Also: for many this will mean a spike in your sex drive. Woo hoo!

Finally, the New Moon in Aries on Saturday is a wonderful time to sit down and think about what you really want out of your life. And since this is Aries were talking about, it may be a particularly good time to shake things up or blow them apart rather than quietly ride things out as usual. Figure out exactly what it is that’s holding you back from your goals and dreams, take aim, and fire!
