Saturn and the Moon

Saturn is the higher octave of the Moon. In the historical time of jewish mysticism, Saturn was associated with “Binah” who was referred to as the “great mother”. The Moon, however, was associated with “Yesod” who was also associated with the maternal aspect. Yesod and Binah, both being associated with the “mother” archetype, also shared another striking similarity: Foundation. However, While Binah and Saturn were associated with an earthy nature, the Moon was associated with a watery nature. The element of water, in astrology, is associated with the subconscious mind, and the eath element is associated with the physical universe (including earth). Yesod, or the moon, was the Foundation of our mind (the subconscious), while Saturn was the Foundation of physicality (science or physics).
