Love Horoscope for the Week of July 20

First of all, congratulations on surviving the relatively lousy transits of the last couple of weeks. This week should be easier to deal with, but beware of a couple of potentially unpleasant surprises lurking in the background.

Let’s get the most difficult news out of the way first: Mars square Uranus may not be exact until Saturday, but that energy will hang over most of the week. In part that’s because Uranus is slowing down and preparing to go retrograde on Sunday, and in part because Mars in Cancer is just so hard to work with. Whenever Mars square Uranus happens, there is a high risk of unexpected flare-ups and unplanned explosions, both literally and figuratively. As Uranus is slowing to a halt during the square, the risk increases. So if you work with dangerous materials, around people with bad tempers, or just like to go drinking on the weekend and loudly sharing your opinions, be cautious.

The Sun enters Leo on Wednesday. This means that for the next month your Leo friends and coworkers will be quietly sitting back with that look on their face that tries to say, “Don’t make a big deal about me, but God help you if you don’t.”

Venus has just recently entered Virgo, and this week she takes a look around at the crisply sanitized surroundings of her new Sign, then backs up and decides to go back to the louder party-oriented environs of Leo. Venus will be spending all of August and September in Leo. Venus retrograde isn’t necessarily a red flag for starting a new relationship, but for many of you who are searching for a love life involving someone tall, dark and handsome… in the next two months you have to settle for a love life that is “big, loud and confused.”

The weekend dating scene is an interesting one. That Uranus-Mars square I warned you about earlier can also be really good at ramping up sexual tension, and that can certainly be useful. On the other hand, with Venus retrograde, you may be better off working on either an existing relationship or yourself before getting involved with someone new.

This weekend’s conditions are also prime time for drunk dialing an ex or otherwise reaching out to someone from your past that you should probably know better than to deal with. And having Moon in Scorpio for most of the weekend might spice things up, but it’s unlikely to make things more calm and gentle. You’ve been warned.
