Love Horoscope for the Week of August 17

I’d like to begin this week’s forecast with a bit of a tribute to Virgo. Virgo is normally such a modest and shy creature, the first to blush whenever it becomes the center of attention — which is a state Virgo spends a lot of time being in. Nonetheless, Virgo is where a lot of the focus is this week, with Jupiter freshly entered into that Sign, and the Sun headed there before the end of the week.

Prepare yourself for a week that is lacking in major triumphs or disasters, but instead is made up of little frustrations or gains, and whose success will largely depend on how well you channel and organize your time and energies. This is an approach that is perhaps well-suited to Virgo Season, which begins at the end of this week. Virgo is such a well-ordered Sign that perhaps it’s appropriate that we have a week like that to prepare for it, even if technically most of it happens before the Sun actually gets to that Sign.

It’s certainly not all bad news. The early part of the week is dominated by Venus trine Uranus, which is bound to bring some delightful surprises to the love lives of many. It’s a good time to liven things up with a surprise gift, an unexpected love letter or — why not? — an unplanned midweek fling. Come on, you know you always thought about having one of those.

The second half of the week is kind of a drag. The Sun in late Leo and early Virgo will be square Saturn, which is on its way out of Scorpio. At least on Sunday the worst of it will be behind us. That’s when the Sun enters Virgo. Perhaps we should all celebrate this in Virgo Style by taking quiet pleasure in cleaning our rooms and reorganizing our files.

Don’t let that lack of drama completely douse your hopes for some romantic action during the traditional dating days of the weekend. The Moon is in Scorpio for Friday and Saturday, and that brings emotional intensity — even though on Saturday it will be conjunct Saturn, and that will tend to put a bit of a damper on things. Sunday is looking good though, with Moon in Sagittarius trine both Venus and Mars. Why not end the week with a bang? And, ahem, I’ll leave it to you which definition of “bang” you go with…
