Love Horoscope for the Week of October 12

One of the double-edged swords of being an astrologer is dealing with the Sign Stereotypes out there. On the one hand, yes they do appear to be true: Cancers tend to be more defensive than the average person, Sagittarians love wandering around, and Aquarians are a bit… um, weird. But at the same time any proper astrologer can tell you that an Aries might be tempermental, but a Mars-Pluto square in the birth chart can turn even the most placid Pisces into a maniac sometimes.

So keeping this in mind, welcome to Bizarro Week in the Zodiac, where Libra loves a good break-up, and Virgo and Capricorn become masters of the bold and sudden romantic attack!

The week starts with a New Moon in Libra, and the New Moon is always a good time to initiate what you want to happen in the next month of your life. Although the Sun and Moon may be joined in Libra (often referred to as “the relationship Sign”) they are opposite Uranus, which makes for unusual circumstances and sudden surprises. Uranus might make for a great Mad Scientist, but how many happily-married Mad Scientists do YOU know? So: this week’s intentions that you set about your relationship have a good chance of coming together if what you want is a break-up or a shake-up, but stability will be harder to come by.

The major aspect dominating the week is Mars conjunct Jupiter, both trine Pluto. This aspect is in effect all week, but Mars trine Pluto hits its peak on Thursday. There is a sense of vigor in the air, and an urge to get things done and to cut through obstacles. And since Jupiter is the Solar System’s Amplifier, the sex drives (Mars) of many will be turned up to eleven. This ought to be a good week for facing down your difficulties, but as always — even though positive aspects are involved, make sure you have chosen your target wisely.

That Mars action fuels the weekend dating scene, but be cautious who gets the keys to your heart. Venus in Virgo is opposite Neptune this weekend (the exact aspect happens Friday evening, but carries on through the weekend). Combined with the Mars-Jupiter conjunction — which is exact on Saturday — and this could make for an adventurous, sexy weekend… but Venus opposite Neptune is hardly the most realistic aspect for making sensible dating choices. Make sure that your heart isn’t saying yes to something just because… um, let’s say “other body parts”… are shouting it down.
