Love Horoscope for the Week of September 14

Normally when writing a weekly forecast, one naturally tends to look more at the transits of the faster planets. After all, how often would you log in to read that yes, once again, Pluto is still in Capricorn? Nonetheless, this week’s news consists largely of some of The Big Guys: Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune, and how their very large and powerful energies will be getting personal with you.

Part of the big excitement for astrologers this week is the Jupiter-Neptune opposition, which is something that only happens about once every twelve years. I normally like to focus on the practical and observable details with my astrology, but even I have to admit that this week could be an amazing time for spiritual and/or philosophical breakthroughs. It’s a time to embrace the Universe with hearts wide open, with the confidence that for once that Universe may fully welcome you. If you have any placements around 8 degrees of the Mutable Signs you may be at risk of engaging in some reckless behavior… but then again, when it comes to the pursuit of your dreams or a little romance, there are worse things than “a little recklessness,” isn’t there?

The other big news from the outer Solar System is that Saturn is finally leaving Scorpio for good (well, for a couple of decades and change, anyway) and entering Sagittarius. This may not have a particular effect on you this week, but brace yourselves for a couple of years of your Sagittarius friends taking it on the chin more than usual.

For more mundane and practical considerations, we look to Mercury. You better get your ducks in a row as far as contracts, agreements, and communications go, because Mercury in Libra is slowing down and getting ready to begin its retrograde on Thursday. I am normally pretty optimistic about the potential hazards of Mercury retrograde, and yet every time that optimism somehow turns around and bites me in the butt. Double-down on the proofreading and spellchecking and research between now and October 11th, when Mercury goes direct again.

As for your weekend date night romance forecast? The Moon will be in Sagittarius on Saturday evening and Sunday. This is a particularly fun-loving placement, but it’s not particularly known for its restraint. Combine this with the Jupiter-Neptune opposition, and you have a recipe for potentially spectacular results in your love life. Furthermore, the planets which room with sex drive, Venus and Mars, are still in Leo and this might make for a real recipe for romantic excitement. Whether by “spectacular” I mean “warm and wonderful” or “oh my God who did I sleep with last night?” I will leave up to you and your sound judgement. Hey, you got that warning about Mercury retrograde, didn’t you?
