Love Horoscope for the Week of October 5

Do you like your love life and your affection to come with a little dramatic flair? Soak it up while you can, because on Thursday Venus enters Virgo after an unusually long stay in Leo. In theory, Venus in Virgo is considered to be a difficult placement. Not only is Venus in Virgo opposite the Sign of its exaltation (Pisces); the Virgo stereotype of clean living and pure thoughts just doesn’t seem all that sexy somehow, does it? (If you answered “yes,” you may be experiencing some symptoms of Virgoness yourself. Please consult a physician).

Despite that, Venus in Virgo does (often as not) turn out to be sexier than advertised. Between now and early November, Venus makes some highly useful aspects to Mars, Jupiter and Pluto, and odds are good that will improve your romantic fortunes one way or another. You might want to take advantage of that mood now before Venus enters Libra — which is a strong placement for Venus, but it sometimes makes her a little too focused on style and accessories than on gettin’ busy with it.

Speaking of (as the ancient seers called it) The Knocking Of The Boots, Mars is still in Virgo and has some fairly steamy encounters this week. For the first part of the week it is opposite Neptune (the aspect is exact on Tuesday) and then builds towards a conjunction with Venus next week. Normally this would be an all-clear sign for sexual good times this weekend, but there’s a catch: during the latter part of the week, Venus is square Saturn (exact on Saturday). That doesn’t necessarily put a complete damper on new relationshiops this weekend, but there’s a chance those relationships won’t have the same depth, caring, and tenderness of, say, “Fifty Shades Of Grey.” Yes, that was sarcasm. Be careful this weekend as to whose feelings you play with, and as to how you let others play with yours.

Prepare yourself for a huge astrological shift starting on Friday. And by “huge astrological shift” what I really mean is “stop blaming every little thing on Mercury Retrograde, because it’s over on Friday.” Well, okay, you’ve still got an excuse: Mercury is on what’s called its shadow period until the 24th, at which time it returns to the point where the Retrograde started. In theory, Mercury is still a bit impaired during that time, so go ahead… it’s not your fault, it’s Mercury’s fault. Poor Mercury. The little guy never seems to catch a break, does he?

Other than the aforementioned Venus and Mars action, the weekend is dominated by Sun in Libra opposite Uranus. Say what you will about the romantic conditions for Date Night this weekend, Sun opposite Uranus is a great time for creating change in your life. If your love life has been stagnant for a while, this could be a good time to break those old patterns… or possibly to break a few hearts. Either way, play safe with each other, okay?
