One of the big ironies of astrology is that the mainstream tends to think of it as being kind of soft and fuzzy and weird… yet anyone who knows the subject recognizes that it has a logical, mathematical, almost (dare I say it?) fatalistic quality to it. That’s unfortunate, because for the most part astrologers really are caring nurturers rather than scalpel-wielding clinicians. This week’s zodiacal action provides examples of both optimistic signs for your personal life and a big side order of “you can’t get there from here.”
Does Neptune going direct this Wednesday represent “all your dreams coming true”? On the one hand, obviously not. And yet Neptune certainly does have a lot to do with both dreams and delusions, and hopes both real and false. When I was a kid the concept of Disneyland always scared me a little. This might sound odd, but it was based on the best logic available to me at the time. Think about it: are all your dreams good ones? Never had a nightmare? That, plus have you ever noticed how terrifying a Disney villain could be to a kid?
Yeah… all of a sudden coming face to face with a six foot rodent isn’t exactly your idea of a great vacation, is it? Nonetheless, having Neptune back at full strength can be incredibly useful. Any new innovation, initiative or invention requires a degree of imagination. Many of you will engage in the practice of “visualization” to get what you want out of life, which is all fine and good… but without practical effort behind it, how far will you get? And with the exact Saturn-Neptune square, “practical effort” is going to be an uphill battle.
Under these conditions, your best move may simply be to keep an umbrella handy and get on with the daily grind. Fortunately, life will provide plenty of distractions from the grinding. Venus and Mars are both in Libra, and socializing, networking and romantic pursuits will all provide ample opportunities to deflect your attention from the harder-to-deal-with Big Picture issues.
Thankfully the weekend will provide some relief, with abundant opportunities for good times. Venus square Pluto (exact on Friday) will turn those cravings for new love and romance into enormous belly-rumblings of hunger for love. If you have some love to give, if you get out there and circulate you’re likely to find it’s a seller’s market. Be cautious with giving it away indiscriminately though: Moon in Aries on Saturday is impulsive and not so great at waiting in line, being cautious, or thinking things through… especially given that it will be opposite both Mars and Venus on Saturday and Sunday.
The lesson this week? You can’t have it all, but we have each other, people. Maybe, when you get right down to it, that’s all we’ve really needed.
