Ever walk into a casino with twenty bucks, have a couple of lucky turns at the slot machines, then trot over to the roulette table with your newfound fortune and lose it all on one spin? If you aren’t careful, this week’s romance could be like that for you. There are some nice and positive things happening, with one potential not-so-pleasant surprise lurking on the weekend. Venus continues its trip through Leo, and Mars is in the last third of Scorpio. As these planets represent the Yin and Yang of love (or if you prefer, the sweetness and the sex) and are both in Signs where they tend to perform well, the overall romantic weather is pretty good. But (as with everything else in life) one stumble can lead to a major fall, so pay close attention to what’s coming up this weekend.
On Tuesday there is a Full Moon in Capricorn opposite Sun in Cancer. Any Full Moon carries with it the potential for moodiness or emotional outbursts, but a Cancer/Capricorn Full Moon can produce Mood Swings On Steroids. This Full Moon is also sextile Mars in Scorpio, so bite your tongue a little harder and try not to take emotional slights too seriously. On the other hand, that aspect to Mars could rev up some hormones, so Tuesday could be fairly useful relationship-wise.
Romantically, most of the week is dominated by Venus trine Saturn. Normally, most casual followers of astrology wouldn’t think anything involving Saturn could be terribly romantic, but if you’ve ever tried to maintain a relationship with some attention to detail (and an ability to endure some crap), you know how handy Saturn can be. If there’s anything about your love life that needs to be made more sensible and orderly — or even if you just need to apply some common sense to your love life — this is the time to make some progress.
So: you’ve followed all the directions and made as many gains in your love life as you can, and now you’re all ready for the weekend, when Moon in Pisces will add an extra veneer of romantic shine to everything. You’re going to make it great, right? Well, not so fast there, pal. Yes, it’s true that if you played your cards right this week, you’ve propped up your relationship and/or your prospects, and that’s great. But be sure you pay special attention to not giving your heart away foolishly or getting into something you shouldn’t, because late Friday/early Saturday that Moon in Pisces will not just be conjunct Neptune, but will also be occulting it. Normally when two planets are close in the sky they are conjunct, but this weekend the Moon actually passes between us and Neptune, making it a Moon-Neptune conjunction on steroids. It might be the most romantic thing ever… or it could suddenly turn into a weird funhouse-mirror image of what you actually wanted. Both literally and figuratively, a Designated Driver may be called for.
