Ever notice how much pressure there is this time of year, when so many of us are supposed to be happy and festive? Even the word “festive” gathers dust on the shelf most of the year until December hits. Those born and raised in the Christian/Christmas tradition have all the pressure to overspend and be loving and peaceful, while being wedged into a room surrounded by dry turkey and Uncle Pete’s wacko political opinions that we could normally avoid at any other time. Those not born and raised in that tradition have stores crowded with agitated shoppers followed by normally-open businesses suddenly closed on the 25th.
Also: it may be that the mood is a little more grumbly than advertised this time of year because the Sun enters Capricorn (as it does on Monday). Capricorns aren’t all dour and cranky of course, but even the jolly ones often respond better to a challenge than they do to a day off. Keep this in mind throughout the week and remember that goats can climb just about anywhere and eat just about anything in order to survive… and that’s kind of inspiring, isn’t it?
Maybe you can avoid any of the agitation that happens at this time of year by burying yourself in work to impress your boss while everyone else is slacking off before the long weekend. Well, not so fast there: the last Tuesday before Christmas is rarely a day of great workplace gains, especially when the Moon is Void of Course throughout the workday like it is this year.
Fortunately, the biggest aspect this week can soften the blow of everything else going on around you. Venus sextile Jupiter (exact on Thursday) casts some sweetness over the week. However, as Sun in Capricorn would be the first to point out, Venus and Jupiter are probably the Solar System’s laziest planets, and the sextile isn’t that hard a worker either. If you want to get the most out of this aspect, it’ll take some work. A little spiked egg nog wouldn’t hurt either.
Finally, the Big Day rolls around. Christmas Day is a time to share the spirit of the season with loved ones. I’ll leave it to you and your loved ones if “the spirit of the season” can survive the emotional sensitivity that comes with a Full Moon in Cancer, with that Moon sliding into an opposition with Pluto by the end of the evening. Under this Full Moon, things could be especially sweet and supportive or could become moody and defensive. Moon in Cancer can go either way, and a Full Moon is always a bit of an emotional wild card.
After all that drama, is anyone up for Date Night on the weekend? Saturday evening the Moon turns Void of Course after a square to Mars, and Sunday features a Moon in Leo that, frankly, doesn’t make any useful aspects except a trine to Saturn… which is useful but a bit dull. When all is said and done, after a week like this, there’s no reason you can’t stay at home and quietly drink by yourself all weekend. Merry Christmas!
